Was the aquarium already dosed? Reconcile an uncertain event record

A missing-event worksheet helps two keepers distinguish evidence of an action from a reminder or assumption.

Quick answer

If nobody can confirm whether an addition happened, record it as uncertain. A reminder, an open bottle or a calculated quantity is not a completed-event record. Reconcile the available facts and obtain product-specific advice instead of guessing whether to repeat an action.

Freeze the record, not the facts

Save the current notes before editing. Give the disputed event an identifier such as Tank-A-2026-11-06-01. Ask each keeper for their own recollection of what they did and when. Keep those statements separately; a shared rewritten story can erase the disagreement you need to resolve.

Classify the evidence

Consider a hypothetical case: the reminder was checked off, the calculator showed 2 mL, and one keeper remembers measuring but cannot confirm adding it. That evidence does not establish a completed addition. The table is a record audit, not a method to infer chemical concentration.

Classify the evidence: worked table

Reminder marked completeSomeone changed a reminderAn addition occurred
Calculator resultA quantity was calculatedIt was measured or added
Keeper’s direct noteThe action described, subject to uncertaintyActions omitted from the note
Bottle appearanceA current observationA reliable amount or time used

Write a bounded uncertainty statement

A useful note is: “An addition was planned at 18:00. Keeper A recalls measuring; neither keeper confirms transfer to the tank. Amount actually added and time remain unverified.” Avoid turning a possible event into a zero or a completed dose just to make the log look tidy. Do not infer an amount from approximate liquid left in a bottle.

Carry the uncertainty into the next decision

Provide the product identity, known completed events, possible event window, tests with methods and current observations to the appropriate adviser. This article supplies no repeat, skip or correction rule. After the uncertainty is addressed, agree that future records state actual completion time, quantity, unit and keeper, with planned actions kept in another field.

Download the editable text file, fill it in on your device and keep it with the relevant record. This blank worksheet records your information; it does not verify entries or approve treatment.

  1. Disputed event identifier and tank
  2. Original plan and reminder time
  3. Each keeper’s account, recorded separately
  4. Confirmed completed events
  5. Unknown amount, completion or time
  6. Advice sought and resulting record correction

Put it into practice

Your checklist

  • Preserve separate accounts before rewriting the shared record.
  • Mark unknown completion, quantity and time explicitly.
  • Seek applicable advice and use a completed-event entry for future actions.

This article distinguishes manufacturer statements from FishyMag’s own workflows and arithmetic examples. Linked formulation records retain their own evidence dates; publishing this article does not refresh those records.

FishyMag reports what manufacturers say, quoted and linked. It does not diagnose illness or recommend a treatment, and it never infers that a product is safe from the absence of a warning — where no statement exists, it says so.

Formulations change. Always read the label on the bottle in your hand, and contact the manufacturer if your tank contains anything valuable or unusual.
